Criteria

To be considered by the Membership Committee, the membership application must meet at least three of the five criteria below. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume is required. Please use the form fields to share any additional details that aren’t listed on your resume/CV. 

  1. Demonstrated expertise in a geographic region or in a physical, cultural or scientific aspect of the world.

  2. Research and/or field activities in a particular discipline to deepen understanding or increase their competence in a relevant area of study.

  3. Evidence of a permanent impact in a field of work, a publication or production, (including written, digital, artistic, filmography, or photographic) in a permanent form, as a record of her work, thus adding to the world’s store of knowledge.

  4. Contributions to education or spread of knowledge related to the cultural, exploratory, and/or scientific aspects of geography.

  5. Exploration to study, research, conduct fieldwork, or carry out other activities consistent with her areas of geographical  interests or topics of study.

For Students, the Membership Committee reviews the application to determine if the applicant is currently enrolled full- or part-time in a Ph.D. program in geography or a related field. A transcript is required.
